LIVING A LIFE OF PURPOSE

Purpose is the original intention and reason of God creating you
Leading Words: Proverbs 19:21
Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.
Readings: John 4:7-26

Introduction:

Humanity struggles to understand:
❖ Why am I born?
❖ Why was I created?
❖ Why am I here today?
❖ Who am I ?( professional/status)
❖ What Am I? (importance/value/worthiness)
❖ What is my? (Impact/Legacy/Reputation)
Above Questions of purpose asked by:
❖ The mighty and the small
❖ The wealthy and the poor
❖ The learned and not learned
The earlier we discover/realize of our purpose then we are assured of living a
purpose driven Life that is full of contentment.
SERMON
The scripture talks of a story of the Samaritan woman who:
1. Had no name, no identity, was not respected, was not person of substance
and was demeaned by other races being a Samaritan.
2. Was Married, divorced, had suffered separation as well as rejection no
wonder when she met Jesus she was going to fetch water at odd hours.
Traditionally water was fetched early in the morning or late in the evening not in
the 6th hour the time for lunch. Samaria is a very hot place and to go and fetch
water at 12 noon was very odd and uncomfortable but she choose to do that
because she was a social misfit, untouchable, a reject in the society. This was to
avoid meeting with people who demeaned her and hence by divine coincidence met
Jesus at the well and Jesus started the conversation by asking some water.

We see the Samaritan responding to Jesus “You are a Jew and am a Samaritan”
❖ “You are from an elevated race and am from a demeaned race.”
❖ “We don’t interact, we don’t socialize, how can you ask for water?”
And the Jesus said “If you knew the person asking for water you could have asked him for the life living water.”
Jesus meant the Samaritan woman was talking to A person:
❖ Who gives purpose
❖ Who makes rejected people accepted
❖ Who elevates from grass to grace for the life living water.
Without purpose:
❖ You can do anything that is questionable
❖ You stop living and start existing
❖ Living a life without contentment
❖ Not fulfilling God’s purpose.
❖ Live a life full of fear
You know your purpose by Leaving what you have been doing and the things you have been believing in.
Move out of those beliefs and cultural things that have been binding you and believe in Jesus true purpose of life.
Have an encounter with God as your creator through Confessing that God has a purpose for you and your identity is with Jesus believe in the same and start walking like you have purpose.
He will give a revelation of who you are and the original value attached to you Proverbs 19:21: My Purpose is the original intention and reason of God creating
me.
